For decades, some of our favourite alt-lifestyles icons have donned the iconic Vans footwear. From Henry Rollins to Fred Durst, Ringo Starr to Taylor Momsen, Vans are as commonplace on the fringe as Fender, Gibson or Harley-Davidson.

Vans have made their mark as the ultimate footwear. Compared with their humble beginnings as footwear for the yacht-sailing elite, these days they’ve been adopted into a world all about skateboarding, punk rock and the lifestyles attached. New collection Made For The Makers, however, begs to be different, branching out to cater for all creative types across all mediums.

The new range from the 52-year-old company celebrates the everyday creative and their diverse pursuits within art, music, sport and street culture, with a meticulous design engineered for the tough jobs. Many items in the Vans ranges are made to look pretty and casual, but Made For The Makers was designed to maximise comfort for the creative community, the barbers, tattoo artists, the chefs or the surfers. Vans pride themselves on this range being durable and pleasing so all the “makers” out there can do what they do best without sacrificing personal style.

The collection features all black versions of Vans classics Sk8-Hi Reissue UC, Old Skool UC, Authentic UC and Classic Slip-On UC, retailing from $109.95 to $139.95. The collection will be available exclusively at vans.com.au and Vans Concept Stores from February 2018.
