EARTH CALLER // PREMIERE—Take A Hell Ride on ‘Exposed’ Video

Melbourne’s fave metalcore degenerates Earth Caller are about to rip your face off with raging new track Exposed, taken from the much anticipated new album, Crystal Death. Strap in and watch below:

The track premiered on triple j’s The Racket last night and follows up their first single Fall, released last year.

The album is set for release this Friday, 19th of January through Entertainment One.

The track was inspired by a rogue former band member derailing their progress, as frontman Josh Collard tells Hysteria.

“You can tell the subject matter is a very passionate one. They’re quite angry lyrics and it’s actually about a situation that we went through just before we started recording the album, after it was all written, where we had a falling out with a band member due to a lot of issues that he was having and sort of bringing to the table.

“Thankfully we managed to cool the situation down, but I think that this song essentially came about through the frustration and anger that comes with dealing with somebody that’s really trying to hurt you. There was a lot of tense stuff going down in this song. Financial demands, slander, sabotage… But as always, looking towards the silver lining, those emotions really came through on the song and really created a piece of music that we’re really proud of and essentially the subject matter of this song is betrayal. So anybody who’s ever been betrayed can relate to this.”

Crystal Death was born out of the band, and Josh’s, personal journey from tasting a measure of success with first record Degenerate which came out in 2015. Degenerate debuted at #6 on the AIR charts upon release.

“I just found myself in a lot of situations that I wasn’t really equipped to deal with and unfortunately due to old habits I sort of used substances as a means of self-support,” he says.

“I truly believe that for example with the song Exposed, if that didn’t happen at that point my life, I might’ve ended things a lot better. It might not have gotten that bad, you know. And there’s a lot of songs about relationships on there, and obviously substance abuse affected all of those as well. I guess what writing Crystal Death as an album was a way of me trying to put that part of life behind me, and thankfully I have now.”

Crystal Death was produced, mixed and mastered by producer Beau McKee and assistant engineered by Kris Samos at Oaklands Recording Studios.

Pre-orders for the album, featuring Fall as an instant download, are available now.
