Tastes pretty good!

Could it be rock? Could it be punk? Nah, it’s just Drunk Mums, the Melbourne outfit who really, are a little bit everything–rock, punk, metal, and every other label in-between, their latest album, Urban Cowboy, has been crumpled up like a piece of paper, stomped on with heavy boots, kicked about a greasy underground venue and then folded out neatly and rocked the hell out. It’s the imperfections that make this release awesome.

There’s a crunchy DIY vibe coursing through the album, Drunk Mums living up to their name and nuzzling at their lyrics, instruments and selves in a gnarly yet satisfying way. They shift between the garage punk sounds in Order From Chaos, reminiscent of 70s Brit punk, and the more chilled out likes of the album’s title track–move over, The Rolling Stones, Drunk Mums are here with the grooves now!

Drunk Mums have mastered the art of being unintentional suited for anyone and any place.

RWTP is shaken not stirred in an undiluted cocktail of power rock beats and classic rock harmonies, Borderline wouldn’t go out of place in someone’s tiny lounge or an area, the sheer volatility of the track powerful enough to bring any house down. Drunk Mums have mastered the art of being unintentional suited for anyone and any place.

If you ordered the rock with the unexpected side of punk, be warned, the secret ingredient is Drunk Mums, and it tastes pretty good!
