VIOLENT SOHO // Aren’t Breaking Up + Hint at Ideas for New Record

Calm yourselves people; we’ve got even more confirmation that Mansfield’s favourite sons Violent Soho aren’t breaking up.

After a Facebook post confirmed they weren’t splitting last month, guitarist James Tidswell took to Facebook live this evening and affirmed that the band aren’t breaking up anytime soon. “People have been coming up to us saying ‘good luck on the hiatus’ … it was kind of mistranslated in the interview,” says Tidswell. “When people asked ‘do the Groovin shows mean anything more than any other shows you’ve done?’, I basically said it’s going to be really special and we jumped at the chance as we don’t have anything booked after Groovin. It’s the first time we’ve been in this situation [of nothing booked] for six or seven years … Under no circumstances are we going on indefinite hiatus.”

The guitarist confirmed that his use of the word “indefinitely” may have led fans down the wrong track; rather than splitting up with a “lame” and “sappy” indefinite hiatus that they would “never do”, the band are just in a place where they’ve “never been before.” Tidswell also threw a tidbit of hope to fans that might not be able to stand another three years like the wait between Hungry Ghost and WACO by saying a new record could be “even sooner” than 2019, with singer Luke Boerdam working on new ideas that he’s “really pumped” about.

So don’t throw away your Gatorbeugs just yet; Soho ain’t going anywhere.
