SAFE HANDS // Premiere New Video for ‘The Great Affair’

Safe Hands 2016 band

More good news out of Newcastle—earnest punks-at-heart Safe Hands have premiered their video for The Great Affair. Watch below:

The five piece will release Tie Your Soul To Mine on 23 September through Lost Boy Records.

This new album severs the band from their hardcore past. The boys issued a statement of philosophy, offering a more mature approach to their craft and stage show.

“When Safe Hands first got a touring line up together, we were fueled by naiveté and a desperate need to be noticed at any cost,” the statement reads. “Typical gig scenes included throwing our instruments, invading the personal space of an audience, breaking things under the guise of “putting on a show.” We delighted in our contrived chaos. We watched friends leave our shows with separated limbs.

“The older we grew, the more we realised that this behaviour was extremely ignorant and resulted in serious damage to venues and social reputation alike. The blame can’t entirely be easily laid at the altar of being young and stupid; it was simply the result of feeling the need to play to genre stereotypes.

“If you’ve caught a show in the past year you’ll know that things are different. We largely play entirely new material which has impacted our turnouts significantly but we don’t care. There’s no less passion to the music but we want to exist in (pardon the pun) a safe space.”

Safe Hands have shared stages with Converge, Norma Jean, La Dispute, and Rolo Tomassi in recent years, and have finished up a run with grind threesome. Fat Guy Wears Mystic Wolf T-Shirt. They’ll also embark on Newcastle date on the upcoming PUP tour and support the album with their own string of tour dates.
