Phwoar! It’s what you’ll say after hearing Imitate Me, the new track from Melbourne metal’s resident occultists Pagan. Stream below and strap yourself in:
Imitate Me is the fifth track released from a clutch of “13 Unholy Singles.”
Imitate Me was recorded and mixed at The Black Lodge in Melbourne by producer, engineer and family member, Mike Deslandes. Pagan enlisted the help of Dav Byrne on mastering duties for the final touches.
According to a statement, “This late night banger pays homage to the band’s love of Scandinavian Black Metal and 1970s Italo-Disco. Imitate Me tells a cryptic tale of ugly human bitterness, resentment and jealousy. A song about rejecting and detaching one’s self from the unwanted shadows in your life that follow your every move.”
Pagan has had a few solid months of “rituals”, seeing the release of single Luigi Cherubini in October last year. They’ve scored prime airtime on Triple J and independent radio stations across the country, including Hysteria Radio. Pagan were named Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist after wreaking havoc at 2017’s UNIFY Gathering alongside Alexisonfire, Violent Soho, and Every Time I Die. They have also opened for the likes of King Parrot, Clowns, and Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes.
More “Unholy Singles” are planned for release throughout 2017.
You can purchase the track from Pagan’s Bandcamp.
Disclosure: Pagan guitarist Daniel Bonnici is an occasional freelance writer for Hysteria Media.
