OCEAN SLEEPER // Announce Six Feet Down EP + Release Video For Title Track

Local metalcore upstarts Ocean Sleeper have announced their first EP Six Feet Down, to be released January 13, along with an accompanying music video for the title track.

The video features the band performing at a local skate park in their hometown in Gippsland, Victoria. According to vocalist Karl Spiessl, the regional location represents a feeling of camaraderie that he just doesn’t get from the city.”I know for sure that all my mates—whenever we would have any dramas at home, we would always just go ride at the skate park… and that place was our little safe spot to escape I guess.”

The title track is an earnest attempt to show the past always makes us who we are. According to the vocalist, “I sought help once with a psychologist due to constant panic and anxiety attacks and that’s where you get the first line of Six Feet Down of ‘Where do I begin?”. The EP as a whole follows the trap of country life, and the hopelessness it can bring for those who want more. “People get trapped here in a cycle of – go to school, get apprenticeship, get married, buy house, have kids, cycle repeats and no one leaves here—alternatively, they get stuck in the drug cycle.”

Ocean Sleeper want more from their lives, and Six Feet Down is their ticket out. Catch the band performing at next year’s Unify Festival, and make sure to grab a copy of Six Feet Down from the boys while you’re there. The EP will also be available digitally the same day, plus pre-orders from bandcamp and iTunes will receive a download of the title track instantly.
