NIRVANA // Ex-Marilyn Manson Member Accuses Kurt Cobain of Plagiarism

Former Marilyn Manson keyboardist Madonna Wayne Gacy accused the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain of plagiarism in an on-blast Facebook post, which he has since deleted.

Alternative Nation today reported Gacy, aka POGO, real name Stephen Gregory Bier, Jr., posted a link to 70s rockers Blue Oyster Cult’s song Godzilla and wrote: ‘Burn in Hell Kurt.’ He then posted a link to Eighties by goth band Killing Joke and wrote: “And this is why you kill yourself [sic], because you’re a fucking thief.”

Unfortunately for Gacy, any plagiarism claim on behalf of Killing Joke never came to pass. Band manager at the time Danny Goldberg mentioned in the book Eyewitness Nirvana: The Day-By-Day Chronicle that the band admitted appropriating that Eighties’ riff, and that the English goths did complain about it at the time. No hard feelings remain, as Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl appeared on KJ’s 2003 comeback album, Death and the Resurrection Show.

He also came under fire for criticising not only Cobain, but Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington for committing suicide in July this year, as you can see in this screencaptured Facebook post under the pseudonym “Esteban Cerveza”:

Gacy was an original member of the Marilyn Manson band. He left the band in 2007 after suing Marilyn Manson for unpaid partnership proceeds, claiming Manson spent royalties on “sick and disturbing purchases of Nazi memorabilia and taxidermy (including the skeleton of a young Chinese girl).” Manson counter-sued Gacy for breach of contract.
