HUNDREDTH // Drop Shoegaze-y New Single ‘Youth’

South Carolina’s hardcore-turned-shoegaze outfit Hundredth have released another track from their upcoming record Rare. New single Youth ramps up the shoegaze vibes that previous single Neurotic hinted at, so those expecting any sort of mosh-heavy tracks should probably stick to the band’s old catalogue. We’re not advising it though as the record, due out June 16 through Hopeless Records and Unified, is shaping up to be one of the most interesting changes of 2017.

Speaking to Alternative Press last year, vocalist Chadwick Johnson said of the band’s new direction: “At this point in all of our lives, I think we wanna do something a little different. We’ve always done that as far as different aspects of the band, like merchandise or branding or any of that stuff, we’ve always done different things that other bands weren’t doing at the time, but they kind of ended up there a little bit after us—not to say that we’re some groundbreaking band that’s changing everything. But it’s just things I’ve noticed along the way that were risky for us to do at first, but they ended up paying off in the end. It’s us doing that with the music, rather than just the other aspects of the band.”
