British genre-bending Djent-lords TesseracT have announced all the details of their upcoming fourth studio album. Sonder is set to be released on 20th April (4/20 lol) through UK progressive music label Kscope.

To celebrate the announcement, the five-piece have released Luminary; a song that vocalist Daniel Tompkins says explores “a deep and devouring sense of insignificance, which ties into the overall theme and meaning behind ‘Sonder’”.

Sonder is a word used to describe the revelation that everyone has a story; that every stranger you meet has a life as vivid and complex as the one you are experiencing.

The album promises to be the best work to date from TesseracT; an album that blends the defining elements from each of their past albums into one streamlined, honest, and direct album across eight songs.

Fans have already had a small taste of the upcoming album; an extended and re-worked version of their 2017 single Smile is set to feature on Sonder.

Along with the standard album release, TesseracT have also produced a ‘binaural’ edition of Sonder; available as part of the 2CD set. This version of the album is a 360-degree headphone listening experience designed by Klang:Fabrick – a German-based company that creates in-ear-monitors for touring musicians.

“The concept is to push past the restrictions of a stereo headphone mix and create an accurate ‘3D’ space in which positioning outside of the normal Left Right axis can occur” bassist Amos Williams says in a statement.

“We immediately felt that this technology could be applicable to us in the studio. TesseracT loves to bring what it does in the studio to the stage, but this time it’s experimenting with bringing a live element to the studio.”

The band are set to hit the road to support the new album; kicking off a North American tour in late-April, before hitting the European festival circuit. The band have also promised tours of the UK and Australia.

Pre-orders are available now.
