HARD NOISE // Legendary Oz Drummer Matt Skitz Found By Police


One of Australia’s most loved and well-known metal identities Matt ‘Skitz’ Sanders has been found by South Australian police.

Sanders was reported missing since Monday the 22nd of January. The South Australian police issued this statement on Facebook this morning:

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are as yet unknown.

The SA Police asked for information for his whereabouts over social media Monday, sending the Aussie metal scene into a panic.

“Police are seeking the assistance of the public to locate missing man Matthew Sanders.

Mr Sanders, 45, was last seen at Brighton in the afternoon of Monday 22 January. He is described as Caucasian, 170cm tall, slim build, shaved head with a black and grey goatee. He has wolf tattoos on either side of head and piercings to his bottom lip.

He was last seen wearing a black sleeveless hooded top with red print, black jeans with a studded belt and thongs.

Concerns are held for his welfare and anyone who knows the whereabouts of Matthew Sanders or who may be able to assist police is asked to contact the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.”



Matt “Skitz” Sanders is a legend in the Australian metal scene, laying down inhuman blast beats for seminal “hatecore” band Damaged during the 1990s.

He’s also played with Oz metal royalty Destroyer 666, Sadistik Exekution, Blood Duster, Atomizer, and most recently King Parrot.

A 2007 edition of Rave Magazine named him as “Australia’s premier metal skinsman.”
