Forging new Bury Me sonic terrain, Wayward finds its way alongside a galvanised lineup and an explosive new creative direction for the five-piece, with new additions in the form of vocalist Joel Mctaggart and drummer Andrew Spice, alongside Mackenzie Begg on production duties to conjure the heavy-hitter to life.
While undeniably still of the modern metalcore persuasion, Wayward also adds in some unexplored terrain for Bury Me, with the track fusing both clean and harsh vocals to its heavy spine, alongside significant expansion of the band’s melodic reach, seen most vividly in Wayward’s soaring, urgent chorus.
A single that pours blazing ferocity over its more modern undertones, Wayward also unpacks the notion of being a “wayward” individual in the chaotic world around us. Equally a war cry as much as it is a message of finding comfort in the unknown, Wayward’s pinnacle lyric declares “Hell burns bright, but we burn stronger”, while the track’s angsty outro dazzles in turbulence.
With an adoration for heavy rhythms and heart-wrenching melodies, and a brand new lineup now solidifying their next chapter, Bury Me are primed to unleash even more of their heavy sonic creations in the near future.
Forming in 2019 in Sydney’s burgeoning metalcore cauldron, Bury Me have persevered against the odds faced shortly after their inception, courtesy of the pandemic years, with performances also already in their wake alongside Alt., Belle Haven, Patient Sixty-Seven, and Harroway.
With an adoration for heavy rhythms and heart-wrenching melodies, and a brand new lineup now solidifying their next chapter, Bury Me are primed to unleash even more of their heavy sonic creations in the near future; and Wayward is the headstrong track ready to show the world exactly what Bury Me are made of.
