VIOLENT SOHO // Luke Henery Is Throwing An Art Party

Violent Soho’s Luke Henery may be better known for laying down heavy basslines in Violent Soho, but photography comes as a second calling.

Moonlighting behind the lens he’s been collecting photos. As those in the know might point out, he’s even been showing off a few of these works at this year’s Laneway Festival.

But now he’s giving fans another chance. Titled Everybody Deserves A Home the exhibition will explore a number of Queensland’s rooftops. The one-night event promises to present a series of pieces which present the images of the Sunshine State’s humble tin roofs as abstract art and a “celebration of how lucky most Australians are to have a safe place to sleep.”

The images on display have been captured using Stereogram photographic techniques. Some have even been doctored to include hidden three-dimensional images viewable only via a special ‘magic eye’ technique. “This is symbolic of how some people in our community can become invisible and it is only when we change our focus that they come into view,” the accompanying media release explains.

Any well-to-do Violent Soho fans looking to pocket one of the pieces on show can rest easy knowing that any money collected will be going to a good cause. Luke will be donating all proceeds from any sales to local homeless charity Micah Projects.

Henery will be showcasing his work on Saturday, 17th March at the Crowbar’s Church Brisbane gallery. The event is 18+ and will be kicking off at 6pm and running until late. Oh, and it’s free so get along!

You can RSVP to the event on Facebook here.
