THE VANNS // New Single & Tour Announced

Following their 2017 album Shake The Hand That Picks The Fight, The Vanns have come back with a new single How Was I Supposed To Know (to be released Friday 17th of August) and a tour to support the edgy heartbreak track.

REVIEWS: TROPHY EYES: The American Dream // AS IT IS: The Great Depression // PLINI: Sunhead`// DORO: Forever Warriors, Forever United

Caught between a rock and a hard place, the tune is about dealing with a breakup, and watching the other person move on while you’re still not ready. “This song is about the collapse of a relationship and the frustration, confusion and envy that comes along with seeing the other person easily move on whilst you’re still caught up in what was” explains vocalist and guitarist James Vann.

Showcasing the progress of their rock sound and progress of the band the new single really packs a punch and captures the hard work the band has put in over the years, from a high school band, to one of Wollongong’s finest. Taking on local songwriter/guitarist Cam Little during the production of their 2017 EP, guitar riffs have become more complex and their overall sound is tighter and sharper, allowing more space to grow as a four-piece.

Produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter) and reflective of older tracks like So I’m Told and Skinny Legs, with a true indie-rock sound, the single is the next step for The Vanns.

Accompanying the release of the new track, The Vanns have released dates for their How Was I Supposed To Know Single Tour, with main support from Wing Defence. Kicking off at the end of September at Yours & Owls Festival, through to Campbelltown in November, the band will be taking on a 7 date tour along the East Coast.
