Losing yourself in a stoned haze

Turnover are a hell of a long way from where they started. It’s the time of the sadboy nowadays, and Good Nature is a perfect soundtrack for idle Tumblr scrolling. ‘Dreamy’ is thrown around as a descriptive a lot, but Good Nature often slows the brakes down to an almost standstill. If a sense of urgency is what you seek, Good Nature isn’t that record. It’s introspective, lost in a California dream with the waves crashing behind. That’s fine; there doesn’t have to be a push in every song. But in the move to lush easier listening, Turnover have stifled themselves.

It’s a surefire win.

By the time Bonnie (Rhythm & Melody) rolls around, there’s not much of a change from Butterfly Dream. Wait, was that Curiosity? With a beer in hand and good company it’s not going to matter. All That It Ever Was is one of the more urgent cuts that still manages to linger in itself. The record does sound nice though. The bass hums and Good Nature’s guitars are suitably light as they lick at the edges. With summer coming up, this is the record to flick endlessly past posts on your bed, play on the beach with a shitty Bluetooth speaker, or for losing yourself in a stoned haze. Hell, close your eyes and it’ll transport you to whichever you find most peace in. In that aspect, it’s a surefire win.
