TOTAL PACE // A New Supergroup Ft. Members Of Violent Soho & DZ Deathrays

Honestly, fuck The Avengers. Rock music has the best damn crossovers in the world right now, and there ain’t no comic book wet dream that can prove us otherwise.

Prophets Of RageTropical Fuck Storm. Any of Dave Grohl‘s 9,303,781 side-projects. The list goes on, but in all sincerity, there’s no point. The most drool-worthy supergroup is here, and it’s comprised of members pulled from some of Australia’s biggest and best punk legends. Introducing: the one and only Total Pace.

Gritty, loud and sounding like an amp hooked straight up to a keg of beer, the band features Matthew Somers (I Heart Hiroshima) on vocals and guitar, Luke Henery (Violent Soho) on bass, Simon Ridley (DZ Deathrays and Velociraptor) on guitar and Branko Cosic (Tape/Off and Gold Stars) behind the drum kit.

The origin story is as honest and home-cooked as the music they spew out: they’d been mates for years, hit each other’s tours whenever schedules would align and on those tours, smash brews like no tomorrow. And the end result is 73, a curiously titled jam that smashes all the best parts of their other respective bands into a rough ‘n’ rugged dive bar anthem just shy of three minutes long.

It’s also the first cut from their soon-to-be-released debut EP. Details on that are as elusive as the common unicorn for now, but when they hit, Hysteria will be the first to scream it from the hilltops.

If you’re keen to catch Total Pace live, and by some stretch of luck, you’re reading this in Brisbane … Well, get your fucking wallet ready. The band are set to play their first ever gig on Thursday, July 19th at the Black Bear Lounge. How they’ll fill an hour is beyond us, but goddamn are we keen to find out.

Support for the show comes from local rockers Electric Zebra, with more openers TBA.
