THE STORY SO FAR // New Tune Dropped and Release Date for Upcoming Album

The Story So Far have come very far from their previous self-titled album with the release of their new single Let It Go.

The Story So Far have released their first single Let It Go, off their upcoming full length album Proper Dose to be released in late September. Back for their first release in 3 years, their sound has progressed from their heavier previous self-titled album The Story So Far released in 2015.

Starting gently with airy vocals and coherent guitars, the track explodes into a whirlwind of crashing drums and cascading rhythms. Breaking up the full sound with the soft vocals really builds up the chorus’, very different to older tracks like Heavy Gloom off their self-titled third album.

With tour life catching up on the band, vocalist and lyricist Parker Cannon mentioned that the band needed time to collect themselves, needing time to recharge and work on new music. Stepping back and enabling themselves to take on new creative outlooks on their career, Let It Go really showcases the down time that The Story So Far needed in order to progress creatively. “This one, all the way through, I just think it’s leaps and bounds ahead of anything we’ve ever done,” says Cannon.

Influenced by The Beatles, The Story So Far have been able to push the limits with their new album Proper Dose, in terms of experimentation and redefining the bands identity. “It’s not like we’re trying to sound like The Beatles, but it just gives you a crash course in songwriting and how you can experiment but retain your identity.” says guitarist Kevin Geyer.

Working with producer and engineer Sam Pura, who worked on previous albums with the band The Story So Far (2015) and What You Don’t See (2013), as well as the album aided in mixing by Eric Valentine, who has worked with other bands like Third Eye Blind and Queens Of The Stone Age, Proper Dosed has become a mix of the journey of The Story So Far and their journey to come in music.

Proper Dosed is to be released on September 21, via Pure Noise/Sony Music Australia.
