STATE CHAMPS // Premiere New Single

Pop-punk band, State Champs have recently premiered their new single, Mine is Gold on Billboard, off their impending record, Living Proof, which is available from 15th June via Pure Noise Records.

State Champs, who first formed in 2010 with vocalist, Derek DiScanio and guitarist Tyler Szalkowski, the duo began to lay the foundations for State Champs in garages and basements. Since then, they’ve seen members including Tony “Rival” Diaz, Evan Ambrosio and Ryan Scott Graham jump on the bandwagon, and from there the complete band went on to release the album, Around the World and Back.

Living Proof however, is State Champs’ third release and was produced by John Feldman who has worked with the likes of Blink-182 and Good Charlotte.

Speaking of the albums’ impending release, DiScanio says:

“It was like, let’s take as many swings at it, try as many new things and experiment, until we get to the point where we could start searching through it all and then find the album”, he says.

He continued:

“At the end of the writing and recording process, we had 19 or 20 songs. We looked at each other like, ‘Holy shit. What the hell? This has never happened before’”, he says.

Collaborating with some of pop-punk’s best known ‘heavy hitters’, such as Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, the band says it’s because of these legendary songwriters and their experiences why this album will be successful.

“Living Proof has a lot to do with independence, and finding the independence within you, embracing the mixed emotions that fall in your lap a lot of the time”, DiScanio says.

He continues:

“There’s break-ups, and flings, love, loss, all of that. I’ve seen a little bit of everything through this writing process”, he says.

“In short, this upcoming release is about ‘coming out the other side of those experiences, both triumphant and humbled.”

The 13-track album is due for release on 15th June. Available now for pre-order.
