SORORITY NOISE // Announce String-Heavy Rework Album, YNAAYT

If you’ve ever craved an album so heart-wrenching that it’ll make you choke on tears mid-playthrough, look no further than You’re Not As _____ As You Think, album #3 from the Connecticut emo babes in Sorority Noise.

Hitting that sweet spot between Modern Baseball’s quirky energy (fun fact: frontman Cameron Boucher used to be roommates with MoBo frontman Brendan Lukens) and Brand New’s searing pain (the album was produced by the disgraced heavyweights’ longtime collaborator, Mike Sapone), yet with a flavour all of its own, You’re Not As _____ As You Think was a standout release of 2017.

A full year on from its debut, the foursome have today announced a re-tinkered version of the album in YNAAYT (pronounced how I imagine Tommy Wiseau would say, “Ya not!”) [What a story, Matt – ed.] The new LP is a stripped-back and string-heavy interpretation of You’re Not As _____ As You Think, with orchestral arrangements composed and performed by Michael Underwood.

The record features a slightly altered tracklisting, too: in place of the album’s original closing track, New Room, listeners will be treated to a brand new jam titled Windowwww. A cover of Leonard Cohen’s Chelsea Hotel No. 2 replaces choice cut Where Are You? as well. The latter track has been released as the first single from YNAAYT, which you can suss with your face eyes above.

YNAAYT follows the 7” companion piece Alone, which Sorority Noise dropped in the later stretch of 2017.

Let’s hope the new release means the band are revving up the tour bus again. We could do with another hit of sadjams Down Under–the last time Sorority Noise were here, Hysteria said their set was “brimming with lots of emotions: passion, rage, catharsis, but especially love.”

YNAAYT is out on 3rd of March via Triple Crown. The vinyl edition of YNAAYT (available in damn sexy green and half-blue-half-clear variants) is part of the Mindful Vinyl series, with a chunk of profits being donated to youth suicide prevention charity JED, is available for pre-order here.
