Slipknot percussionist, producer, and director Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan admitted he was at “a real honest place of admitting of what I don’t want to be” on Jamey Jasta’s podcast last Friday, hinting that the next Slipknot album, whenever that may be, could be his last.
“A lot of it is bringing all this emotion to art and music. And honestly, this music that we’re writing writing right now is just like the proof of looking inward and being able to put the first foot down and say, ‘We’re gonna do something for ourselves and write.’,” he said on the podcast, as reported by Metal Injection.
“And we got some stuff man. I feel like this could be it for me. We’re all getting older. I never like telling anyone like, ‘Hey this is it!’ Because I don’t have to, fuck everyone.”
Crahan also said the band has about 27 new ideas for a new album, with “seven or eight” full songs ready to go. The rest of Slipknot is awaiting Corey Taylor’s return from Stone Sour’s current touring cycle.
Crahan, in addition to playing in Slipknot, has directed videos, produced albums, and remixes for Marilyn Manson, Suicide Silence, and Bring Me The Horizon, among others.
