NEWS: BABYMETAL // R.I.P Mikio Fujioka, You Little God


Mikio Fujioka, guitarist for Japanese metal supergroup BABYMETAL, has died at the age of 36. His wife confirmed her husband’s passing on her Twitter account in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Fujioka was severely injured after falling from an observation platform on 30th of December according to the tweets. Over the following days, his condition deteriorated until he eventually succumbed to his injuries. NME reported that according to Fujioka’s wife, the guitarist died on 5th of January from his injuries, but this has not been confirmed by the band.

 

Fujioka had been a member of BABYMETAL’s Kami Band since 2013. Most known to fans as Ko-Gami, which translates to “The Little God”, Fujioka will be missed by many. BABYMETAL paid tribute to their fallen member on their Twitter with a tweet that read “The Little Guitar Kami of Babymetal’s Kamiband has passed away in the Metal Galaxies. We hope that he is now with his guitar master A. Holdsworth and enjoying an epic guitar session with him.” Along with a quote from BABYMETAL song The One. “We are the one. Together. We’re the only one. You are the one. Forever.”

Fuijioka is survived by his wife and two daughters.
