Hysteria app troubleshooting guide for iPhone/iPad

Please install the latest update available on the App Store to ensure the app runs smoothly on the latest iOS 10.2.1 and on iPhone 7s.


Hysteria was created to provide music news and entertainment, through the convenience of a handheld device, all free—giving our readers access to aour content, anywhere and anytime a Wi-Fi connect is in reach.

Each digital magazine issue is delivered monthly, through the Hysteria app, on Apple iTunes and Android Google Play. Once you have downloaded the Hysteria app, inside each issue can be downloaded separately.

To download Hysteria on Apple iPhone and iPad devices:

To download the app:

  1. Visit the app store on your device.
  2. Search ‘Hysteria’.
  3. Follow the download process—even though the app is free you may be required to provide authentication and/or enter your Apple ID and password.

To download a digital magazine issue:

  1. Open the Hysteria app on your device.
  2. Select the magazine you would like to read from the app home page, by tapping once on the magazine cover . (The latest issue will be on top).
  3. Tap the pink ‘Free’ button.
  4. Follow the on screen prompts, you will be required to use touch ID or your password even though the issue is free (this is an Apple requirement).
  5. The issue may take a few moments to download, depending on the internet speed.
  6. Click ‘Open’ to open the issue you have just downloaded. Again, the magazine may take a few moment to process.
  7. Swipe left to move to the next page and read away!

Troubleshooting:

Here are some troubleshooting steps to follow if you’ve downloaded the Hysteria app and magazine issues on your iPhone or iPad, but need some help.

Easy fixes: Let’s try to eliminate the most common reasons first.

Internet connection
The app needs a data connection, either through our network or Wi-Fi. Make sure the phone’s not in flight mode, and has reception or is Wi-Fi connected.

iOS version
The latest version of the Hysteria app 1.4 requires iOS 10.2.1. Please ensure you update your operating system before installing the Hysteria update.

If you’re using an older phone that can’t run this version, unfortunately the latest app will not work on older devices. You can still use the older version of the app 1.3 on these devices, as long as it’s running version 7.0.6 or higher: iPhone 4 or above, iPad 2 or above, any model of iPad Mini.

App version
Updates often contain bug fixes, so make sure you’re running the latest version of the app. You can download updates from the app store.

Restart your iPhone/iPad
Switch off your device, leave for a few moments and power back up. Try downloading the app/magazine issue again.

Reinstall the app
First remove the app from your device by tapping and holding the Hysteria app icon until your icons start to wiggle. Tap the ‘X’ in the top left corner of the app icon and tap ‘Delete’.
Re-download the Hysteria app from the app store.

Storage space
First remove the app from your device by tapping and holding the Hysteria app icon until your icons start to wiggle. Tap the ‘X’ in the top left corner of the app icon and tap ‘Delete’.
Re-download the Hysteria app from the app store.

If there isn’t enough space to download and install the Hysteria app and/or magazine issues, you can manage storage by tapping Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage. It may be necessary to manually delete some content to free up some spaces, such as music, videos, photos or other apps Some apps, such as Music and Videos, let you delete parts of their documents and data. You can also reduce the size of your photo library by turning on iCloud Photo Library and optimising your device storage.
