HAMMERS // Premiere Hilarious Tennis-Themed Video For New Single ‘Dead Set’

Death, destruction, bleakness, corpse-paint, graves and headbanging against a plain white backdrop is cool and all, but at the end of the day getting together with your friends and smashing out some heavy, sludgy/fast jams creates a buzz that is unmatched in levels of pure joy and companionship.

Thankfully far-north coast outfit Hammers have channeled this positive energy into their fun new video Dead Set, depicting every bogan’s dream Aussie day out at the Tennis Court.

With many a can consumed, goon bag demolished and pie thrown, Hammers have visuals of boozy attempts at playing tennis and straight partying on a picturesque tennis court with mates as the visual accompaniment to their slow, groovy alt.metal sound.

How long’s it gonna fucking take for you to get it over the net mate?” demands vocalist Fish, clad in Boris Becker styled Wimbledon tighty whities. From there things descend into utter madness, with a tattoo gun for some of that permanent regret even making an appearance.

“This has to have been the best film clip I have ever been a part of. We went all out, everyone there was definitely in the swing of the day and we downed MANY beers” says Bassist Ricky T.

“It’s about the Aussie working class spirit, it’s about pushing through the shit that life sometimes throws your way, holding your head high and triumphantly coming out the other side.” Watch below.

Channeling the heaviness of early Mastodon and King Parrot with the grooves and party melodies of Zakk Wylde and Gay Paris , Hammers are quickly becoming one’s to watch out of the saturated local metal scene.

With a style that is both simple but aggressive, the band’s unique approach has been handsomely rewarded for the end of the year, with the group scoring back to back dates alongside COG at their upcoming Gold Coast and Byron Bay shows.

“To finish out the year with releasing this and then supporting Cog… we can only say we are pumped for 2018” says Ricky.

With a sound that easily stands out from the pack of Aussie bands desperately trying to stand out, in addition to a support to the envy of literally every metalhead musician in the country, hopefully we will see more solid material from the outfit in the year ahead.
