Some Solid Beats

When you’re hit with the opening bars of A Gentlemen’s Agreement debut album Truths and Secrets you’ll be hook. They do it by lulling you into a sort of false sense of security with some groovy 90s style riffage before Luke Little’s gritty and harsh vocals pummel you from all sides.

From there the three piece don’t let up. They’ve captured a garage rock vibe, recorded in its raw form and ready to be unleashed on the world.

For a debut album it certainly gets your attention and it will be great to see the band grow and develop their sound as their career reaches new heights.

It’s a solid effort from the Sydney-siders, whose band name makes you think you are in for some super-exclusive prog tunes. But prog it definitely isn’t, as Truths and Secrets is full of dirty, chunky riffs, harsh vocals and some solid beats. The two singles released so far and title track and Fear Of The Black Abyss are some of the standouts, but Innocent Eyes is also one of the catchier tracks laced with a killer solo by guitarist Josh Stone. Shot Down is another highlight, a definite nod to their unabashed nu-metal influence.

For a debut album it certainly gets your attention and it will be great to see the band grow and develop their sound as their career reaches new heights.
