South African metal upstarts Facing The Gallows have dropped lekker new track Doom II, taken from upcoming new album Dead Mindset. Chuck a mosh below:
Dead Mindset is out on 20th of February independently and through Distrokid.
“Doom II was shot by our director of photography Mike Bell of Capitol Collective and directed and edited by our guitarist Chase Beynon,” states the band. “Simply put, the song is about getting OTJ (on the jol, South African slang for having a party). The lyrics speak about living for yourself in the present, and going balls to the wall partying. We tried to capture this by shooting a full blown, good ol’ fashioned house party filled with our closest friends that have supported us since the beginning.
“Music is something that is meant to be shared, and we feel incredibly grateful to have so many amazing friends and family that love and support the music we have written. Thank you to our bassist Ray and his housemates for letting us turn their humble home into a film set/party/show we will never forget! We hope people will get OTJ with us, and feel the vibe and excitement we felt when filming this music video.”
The band formed in Johannesburg in 2007, known for mixing thrash metal, hardcore, punk, and metalcore. They debuted with EP What If They Run in 2009, releasing two more records:
This Is Hate City (2012) and Chapters (2013).
Their collection of touring laminates is impressive to say the least: they’ve played major SA festivals Oppikoppi, Ramfest, Woodstock, Krank’d up, Thornfest, and Splashy Fen. They’ve also opened or toured alongside international acts such as August Burns Red, Every Time I Die, Darkest Hour, Our Last Night, The Ghost Inside, Affiance, Underoath, Asking Alexandria, Have Heart, Shipwreck, Unearth, and Protest the Hero. In April 2018 Facing the Gallows are joining Secrets on their South African Tour, as well as Fit for A King, Dance Gavin Dance and Our Last Night later on in the year.
Facing the Gallows is vocalist Bryan Binneman, bassist Rayner Abraham, guitarist Chase Beynon, drummer Victor Monginho, and guitarist James Irving.
