Promising Aus Pop Punk

Unsurprisingly, punk band Bukowski are made up of members from already established groups Between You and Me, Satellites and Sidelines. The title track of their debut EP grow up. give up. let go. has the familiar vibes of Real Friends and the band’s contemporaries Columbus. Vocally driven, it’s the EP’s strongest track. Brood softens from the outset but bristles as it laments someone lost to the bottle. Single You’re probably gonna hate this’s pained “did you ever really care?” isn’t a surprising line but still hits hard anyway. An opening track that doesn’t add much is a bit of a waste on a five track EP but that’s a small gripe. With a limited track list it’s hard to grasp how Bukowski will expand from here (there isn’t much time to reflect before it’s over), but this EP is a promising start. grow up. is heartfelt and loaded with potential if they stick to its stronger moments.
