IN ASHES // ‘Breathe Hope’ with New Video — PREMIERE

Hysteria is proud to present Gold Coast metalcore heavy-hitters In Ashes video for Breathe Hope, and revealing details about their upcoming debut album. Watch below:

Breathe Hope is the title track from the album, set for release on 9th July. According to the band, Breathe Hope is “a mixed bag of the punk rock we grew up on, with a heavy nod to melodic hardcore/metalcore, and dashes of ambience and big sing along choruses.”

Nik Carpenter and In Ashes produced the album at Core Studios on the Gold Coast. Jonny Renshaw at Bandit Studios, UK handled mixing duties, and Alan Douches at West West Side Music, New York mastered the album. It was a product of a long struggle, says vocalist Nate Rose.

“We started writing at the back end of 2013, and had whole album worth of demos only to scrap them and start over. It was a long 2 years of writing and demoing before we actually hit the studio. We didn’t want to put any time constraints [on ourselves] in the studio so we took our time to get everything right and did it in blocks. This allowed us a lot more freedom in getting everything just how we wanted. In the end we were in and out of Core Studios over about a 12 month period. We have hit a few road blocks along the way and it has been a long journey toward releasing Breathe Hope – four years to get to the final product! We couldn’t be more stoked with the outcome.”

A lot of the lyrical content is taken from personal experiences in my life or feelings that I felt at a certain time. I would write them down and then try put a positive spin to them to help me through. In return, it would give me a positive outlook in real life. I wrote with the intent of sending a message that there is hope, all you have to do is believe in yourself.”

The video is the first in a series of clips centred on a mysterious narrative concept.

“We shot half of the video on the Gold Coast and the other half in Norway. We had D.O Blackley of Her Name is Murder Productions come out from Norway to shoot the video,” Nate says on the video.

“It starts with a girl dreaming vivid dreams of being trapped under ice, which represents the life she wants to escape. She appears in a field of flowers, which represents the hope that waits for her on the other side.

“The video is the first part of a story that I wrote. It’s about a girl escaping a life she no longer wants. So she runs away to escape for a life of happiness only to reach a dead end. She sends a secret note in a bottle into the ocean. What the note says will be revealed in the next video.”

Pre-Orders for Breathe Hope will be available from Friday May 19th via Bandcamp, iTunes and all other digital outlets.
